 The Traditions of CTTB

The Six Great Guiding Principles:  

1) No Fighting

2) No Greed

3) No Seeking

4) No Selfishness

5) No Self-benefiting

6) No Lying

The Three Great Principles:

Freezing to death, we do not scheme;

Starving, we do not beg;

Dying of poverty, we ask for nothing.

According with conditions, we do not change;

Not changing, we accord with conditions--

We adhere firmly to our Three Great Principles.

We renounce our lives to do the Buddha's work;

We take the responsibility to mold our own destinies;

We rectify our lives as the Sangha's work.

Encountering specific matters, we understand the principles;

Understanding the principles, we apply them to specific matters.

We carry on the single pulse of the Patriarchs' mind-transmission.

 

Ask yourself:  Do I fight? 

Ask yourself:  Am I greedy? 

Ask yourself:  Do I seek? 

Ask yourself:  Am I selfish? 

Ask yourself:  Do I pursue personal advantage? 

Ask yourself:  Do I lie? 

Ask yourself:  Do I eat only one meal a day? 

Ask yourself:  Do I always wear my precept sash? 

 

These form the traditions of the Sagely City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, and no one can change them!

六大宗旨： 不爭  不貪  不求  不自私  不自利  不打妄語

 

凍死不攀緣

餓死不化緣

窮死不求緣

隨緣不變 不變隨緣

抱定我們三大宗旨

 

捨命為佛事

造命為本事

正命為僧事

即事明理 明理即事

推行祖師一脈心傳

 

問自己是不是不爭？ 

問自己是不是不貪？ 

問自己是不是不求？ 

問自己是不是不自私？ 

問自己是不是不自利？ 

問自己是不是不打妄語？ 

問自己是不是吃一餐？ 

是不是衣不離體？ 

 

這是萬佛聖城的家風，任何人都不能改！

At the beginning of the Opening Light Ceremony, the Venerable Abbot (Master Hua) intoned a verse of dedication:

Ten thousand Buddhas arrive;
  ten thousand nations prosper.
Ten thousand bright rays—
  lamps of ten thousand affinities.
Ten thousand multitudes establish
  the hall of Ten Thousand Jewels.
Ten thousand things as you wish,
  ten thousand deeds accomplished.

"Jyun Kang" means "To Your Health." The City of 10,000 Buddhas' Jyun Kang Vegetarian Restaurant provides natural and healthy vegetarian dishes that taste delicious without MSG, onions, garlic, scallions, leeks, shallots, or eggs. Other vegetarian entrées, soups, and noodles are found in the menu.

At the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, on Saturdays at the close of the Shurangama Mantra Recitation for World Peace, the following dedication verse is chanted:

Verse of Dedication

May these adornments and pure merit and virtue

Be dedicated to the Dharma protecting dragons and gods,

To the mountain and river spirits of the Three Realms,

And to the guardians who watch over our Sangharamas.

We pray that blessings, peace and goodness

Be an adornment to the Unsurpassed Bodhi,

Vowing that all--friends and foes--throughout the Dharma Realm

Will together enter the sea of Vairochana's nature.

萬佛聖城念完楞嚴咒後的迴向偈如下：

以此嚴淨功德  迴向護法龍天

三界嶽瀆靈聰  守護伽藍真宰

祈福保安平善  莊嚴無上菩提

普願法界冤親  共入毗如性海
